Triumph Venture Capital has three portfolio companies:

  • Resource Ballast Technologies (Pty) Limited is commercializing a water treatment technology which assists in the prevention of the translocation of marine organisms in the ballast water of large bulk carriers. A market of at least US$30 billion will be created by the introduction of legislation in most countries by 2010. RBT has entered into a global exclusive distribution agreement with the largest marine maintenance company in the world, Wilhelmsen Marine Services of Norway.   • InSiAva (Pty) Limited is completing research and development for the first silicon-based photonic interconnects solution for light-based chip-to-chip communication on the printed circuit boards of computers. It has a strategic collaboration with Georgia Tech and is within the radar screens of leading semiconductor companies such as Intel and Luxtera. Thus, the current Chairman of Intel, Dr. David Barret demonstrated Intel’s interest in the project by visiting the research project at the University of Pretoria.   • Ambixtra Technologies (Pty) Limited is commercializing a suite of microelectronic patents that have application in the development of intelligent automotive ignition switching systems that can match the voltage of an ignition spark with the specific conditions in the cylinder of an internal combustion engine. A number of OEM automotive manufacturers as well as leading automotive R&D and coil manufacturers have expressed interest in the company’s invention and the company is in negotiations for collaboration with some of these players at the moment.
